Cita Crefeld-Hurley BA Drama DIT, LL.B (TCD), LL.M (University of Dundee, Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy)

Cita started the Musical Theatre and Singing Department at ITW about 20 years ago. She is also a qualified Speech and Drama teacher. She graduated in 1997 from what is now known asD.I.T.’s Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Drama. This incorporated extensive modules on both the voice and teaching.

Her passion has been the voice and the performer in Musical Theatre and, while she has at times in the past taught drama and dance at ITW, singing for Musical Theatre has been her home at ITW.

Her students have performed the title roles, been major cast members and chorus in many musicals like Annie and the Sound of Music in all the major theatres in Dublin for close to 20 years now.  Many of her past students are now working actors, musical theatre performers and/or singer songwriters, both nationally and internationally, having gotten their start and their love of Musical Theatre, singing and the voice at ITW.

Cita collaborated with Sharon Sexton (also ITW at the time) to create the ‘Leinster School of Speech and Drama’s’ Musical Theatre Exam Syllabus, which has been examined all over the country for over a decade now.

Cita works with the voice professionally as well as a Voice Over Artist for the past 25 years.

She took a few years off to have her own family and do a Masters (LL.M) and has now returned and is delighted to be back as a member of the teaching staff in the now much larger Singing and Musical Theatre Department at ITW.
